WHAT HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED:

This project included 2.2 miles of freeway improvement along SR4 for the Measure C program.   It included a bridge replacement over BNSF Railway, an undercrossing structure, retaining walls and MSE walls.

JMEC designed and prepared PS&E (plans, specifications and estimates) for a 30-ft span Hallissy Undercrossing constructed of steel culvert on SR4.  The steel culvert saves about 15% of the construction cost over conventional bridge structure.

The steel culvert was cambered prior to backfill to ensure correct roadway profile along Hallissy Way and with sufficient vertical clearance inside the culvert.
